BOULDER, Colo. (KDVR) — Boulder Fire-Rescue responded to a fire that burned south of the NCAR Fire burn scar Wednesday afternoon.

Officials dubbed the blaze the North Shanahan Ridge Fire. Around 4:15 p.m., fire officials were made aware of a fire that burned near the north fork of the Shanahan Trailhead, all trails in the area were immediately closed and evacuated.

The Pinpoint Weather Team has been warning of strong winds across the state producing a high risk of fire danger. Wind gusts of up to 20 mph can be felt through Wednesday night. Boulder County is under a red flag warning due to the high winds and low humidity value.

Shortly before 5 p.m., Boulder Fire-Rescue reported the North Shanahan Ridge Fire had been put out. The fire burned 0.6 acres.

The fire was reported as 100% contained after 7:30 p.m.
