ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) — A man was killed on South Broadway when the driver of a car hit him at a high rate of speed Saturday morning.

Englewood Police were called to a deadly crash at the 4400 block of South Broadway at 8:37 a.m. Officers determined the car was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on South Broadway when it struck the adult male pedestrian, and then hit a brick building at 4455 South Broadway before rolling over and landing on its roof in the southbound lanes.

Police said a male was reported to be seen running from the car and two females had to be extricated from the vehicle. The females were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

On June 5, the driver of the car was identified as 20-year-old Edwin Solano from Thornton. A warrant has been issued for his arrest after fleeing the scene.

Solano is wanted for the following charges:

  • Failed to remain at the scene/give information and/or aid after an accident involving death
  • Failed to remain at the scene/give information and/or aid after an accident involving serious bodily injury

As of 3 p.m., the area was reopened in both directions. Englewood Police said a portion of the sidewalk on the west side of the street will remain closed likely until Monday. The sidewalk closure will not affect the flow of traffic.
