PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. (KDVR) — Update: The Plumtaw Fire had grown to 735 acres by Wednesday night, according to the San Juan National Forest.
Original: A wildfire burning northwest of the Pagosa Springs airport has grown in size, forcing evacuations, according to forest officials in Southwest Colorado.
The fire is called the Plumtaw Fire. By around 9 p.m. Tuesday, the fire had grown from around 50-70 acres when first reported around 5 p.m. to an estimated 600 acres.
Evacuation notices have been issued for the Lost Valley of the San Juans neighborhood. The fire is burning just under 5 miles northwest of the airport — about 2 miles west of the intersection of Plumtaw and 4 Mile roads — right near the Mineral and Archuletta County line.
