DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — Update 5:16 p.m. Bethany and Sophia Jones were found safe Wednesday.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation reported the update at 5:15 p.m.
The parents were taken into custody, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The children will go to human services, the Sheriff’s Office said. Their older sister was found in New Mexico and is already in human services’ care.
Original: An Amber Alert has been issued for 8-year-old Bethany and 7-year-old Sophia Jones who were last seen with their parents, and police believe the children are in danger.
The girls were last seen with Trisha and Towon Jones on Oct. 26 leaving Colorado in either a 2019 black Toyota 4Runner with Colorado plate: BVGI94 or 2014 green Toyota Sienna with Colorado plate: CGMO17. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has reason to believe the Jones’ may be armed and the children are in danger.
Investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office tell FOX31 they had a court order from the Department of Human Services to remove the children from the home earlier this week. The parents fled to New Mexico to Raton, where they spent the night at a hotel, but law enforcement got involved and the parents left their eldest 14-year-old daughter and took the two younger girls back to Denver.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation said the family was in the north Denver area at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 27, after a cell phone tower pinged one of their phones. Investigators don’t have specifics on exactly where in north Denver they were at that time.
Trisha is described as a 5 feet, 3 inches tall, 32-year-old white female who weighs 160 pounds with brown/green eyes. Towon is a 35-year-old, 6-foot, 3-inch tall Black man who weighs 190 pounds. He has black/brown eyes.
If you see anyone from this family, call 911 immediately or the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 303-660-7500 with any information.
