Denver PD: 6th Avenue reopens following crash involving more than 50 vehicles

DENVER — A multi-vehicle crash forced the closure of the Sixth Avenue Freeway in both directions near Interstate 25 Thursday night. The Denver Police Department says more than 50 vehicles were involved. It described the incident as “weather-related.” DPD says injuries were reported. However, none of them are life-threatening. A tow driver at the scene said an overpass had a thin layer of ice. A woman involved in the crash said visibility was also an issue. She says by the time she crested a hill and saw the backup, she could not stop in time. Sixth Avenue reopened just before midnight Thursday.
