Colorado Springs police: 2 arrested in fatal crash were racing

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Springs police say two drivers involved in a wreck earlier this month in which a 64-year-old man died were racing each other at the time.

The Gazette reports that Norman G. Giddings of Fountain died when his sedan was struck broadside in downtown Colorado Springs on Nov. 2.

According to police, 32-year-old Alisha J. Beauchamp was racing another vehicle driven by 26-year-old Brayden Abraham Daniel Bucholz at more than 70 mph when the accident occurred about 6:25 a.m. The speed limit is 35 mph.

Beauchamp and a young child riding with her were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Court records show that Beauchamp and Bucholz were arrested Friday on suspicion of vehicular homicide and booked into jail.

It wasn’t immediately known whether the two had attorneys.
