BAILEY, Colo. — A young boy was attacked by a mountain lion Wednesday. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the attack occurred in Bailey.

As of just before 9 p.m., the boy was on the way to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood.

There is no word on the specifics of the boy’s injuries. According to Platte Canyon Fire, he is 8 years old.

The attack is believed to have happened off of Park County Road 72. However, its exact location is unknown.

About 10 p.m., CPW said wildlife officers are searching for the animal at the scene of the attack. A dog team has been called in to help.

The agency asked people in Bailey to keep pets indoors during the search.

The boy is hospitalized in fair condition.
