CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KDVR) — Update 11:45 a.m. 9/16: The bear is being relocated to a remote area away from human population, Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced Thursday morning.

According to CPW, the black bear has been safely removed Thursday morning. The over 300 pound male bear had been in a tree of off Millbridge Avenue since Wednesday morning.

People who live in the community were asked to take down bird feeders. Officers hope the bear may come down at dusk when the area quiets down.

Original Story: Castle Rock police are warning people to avoid the area near Mikelson Boulevard and Brantley Avenue in the Founders neighborhood because of a bear.

The Castle Rock Police Animal Control unit is monitoring a bear that was spotted in a tree on Wednesday morning. The bear in still in the tree.

Police ask people to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
