CASTLE PINES, Colo. — A car crashed into a Castle Pines home Tuesday afternoon, missing a homeowner and dog by just a few feet, authorities said.

South Metro Fire Rescue says the incident occurred on Middleham Place about 4:20 p.m.

The driver of a Ford Focus went off the road and drove across a fairway at The Ridge at Castle Pines North golf course. The driver then went through a fence before finally crashing to the house, South Metro said.

When paramedics arrived, the male driver was still inside the car. He was taken to a hospital.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says he likely suffered some sort of medical emergency before the crash.

Authorities have not yet provided details about his injuries.

The homeowner and the dog were not hurt.

“For them to go over that road, then through the golf course, over sand traps, through a fence and then into somebody’s yard, it’s just crazy,” said neighbor Meredith Wilemon, adding, “I can’t imagine what was going through her mind when the car just like goes through her living room wall.”

South Metro’s Heavy Rescue unit removed the Ford from the home and stabilized the structure.

“Just a very scary situation, just lounging on your couch, you never expect a car to come driving into your family room,” said Connor Wist, a spokesperson for South Metro.
