AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — A grand jury indicted six people for their alleged roles in running a large-scale criminal enterprise that involved multiple crimes.
According to the 18th Judicial District, the FBI and Aurora Police Department announced the names of the six individuals who were arrested for their alleged role in a large-scale criminal enterprise that included the following crimes:
- Multiple car thefts
- Aggravated robberies
- Two shooting investigations
- Series of identity theft, fraud and forgery cases
All of the crimes took place in the Denver metro area, according to APD.
The following suspects were named in a 54-count indictment:
- Kaile Stevens
- Keandre Stevens
- Omari Davis
- Tavarious Robinson
- Jadeen Hollumn
- Emmazetta Chargingcrow
According to the DA, this group of friends and family members participated in an identity theft and forgery operation that resulted in multiple fraudulent purchases of luxury vehicles. The vehicles were then used in multiple aggravated motor thefts, robberies and burglaries.
Stolen cars and stolen identities
On Aug. 17, 2021, police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a Mercedes Benz on South Buckley and East Quincy Avenue. According to the DA, Hollumn and Robinson ran from the scene. When officers searched the Benz, they found a rifle, a laser and stolen mail that belonged to multiple victims of identity theft.
Officers also discovered that the Benz had been registered to one of the identity theft victims.
An investigator with the Colorado Department of Revenue found that the crime ring had used stolen identities to buy the cars through fraudulent loans and driver’s license information, according to the DA.
The following cars were illegally obtained between 2021 and 2022 using stolen identities:
- June 9, 2021: 2018 Mercedes Benz GLC 32 AMG
- Dec. 8, 2021: 2022 Kia Forte
- Dec. 9, 2021: 2016 Honda Pilot
- Dec. 13, 2021: 2019 Mercedes Benz CLA 250
- Dec. 15, 2021: 2018 Audi Q5
- Dec. 18, 2021: 2016 Mercedes Benz GLE
- Dec. 18, 2021: 2019 Mercedes Benz GLC
- Dec. 22, 2021: 2017 BMW X4
- Dec. 31, 2021: 2017 Hyundai Elantra
- May 31, 2022: 2019 Mazda CX-9
- July 14, 2022: 20218 Mercedes Benz
According to the DA, the following robberies were also believed to be connected to the criminal enterprise:
- Jan. 19, 2022: 7-Eleven (E. Mississippi Avenue)
- Jan. 20, 2022: 7-Elevent (E. 8th Avenue)
- Jan. 20, 2022: 7-Eleven (E. 45th Avenue)
- Jan. 26, 2022: 7-Eleven (E. 88th Avenue)
- Jan. 26, 2022: Circle K (N. Washington St.)
- Jan. 28, 2022: 7-Eleven (E. Mississippi Ave.)
- Jan. 28, 2022: 7-Eleven (10000 block of Girard St.)
According to the DA, on Feb. 1, 2022, at 10 a.m., officers were called to an apartment complex on East 13th Place on a shots fired call. No one was injured.
Two hours later at the same apartment complex, officers were dispatched to a second shots fired call. One person was injured in this shooting.
The DA said after the shootings occurred, officers executed a search warrant at the apartment where Kaile and her son Keandre lived. The officers found multiple pieces of evidence including, car keys to stolen vehicles, a distinctive sweatshirt and hoodies that were seen at many of the aggravated robberies, and personal information from ID theft victims.
“These conspirators stole social security cards, credit cards and IDs, which we believe were then
given to Kalie Stevens to further her complex fraud operation and gain money for her family and
their friends,” Chief Deputy DA Darcy Kofol said. “Kaile Stevens, the matriarch of this group,
ran a scheme that allowed her, her children and their friends to use these high-end luxury
vehicles for free and then committed multiple aggravated robberies and shootings.”
As of Wednesday, Chargingcrow is the only defendant out on bond pending trial.
