Aurora police arrest elementary student who allegedly brought unloaded gun on school bus

AURORA, Colo. — An elementary school student was arrested in Aurora on Tuesday for allegedly bringing an unloaded gun onto a school bus.

According to the Aurora Police Department, the student handed the gun to another student on the bus. A third student witnessed the incident and alerted an adult, who then contacted police.

The student accused of bringing the gun onto the bus was arrested. Police have not yet said which charges the student may face.

The student attends Polton Elementary School.

No one was harmed in the incident.

The following message was sent to Polton families:

Hello. This is an important message for families at Polton Elementary School. Today, a Polton student brought an unloaded gun onto a bus and showed it to another student. The incident was reported to the school and the school immediately contacted police. The student was located and found to be in possession of the unloaded gun. All students are safe. We are sharing this information with you to keep you informed about situations related to student safety at your child’s school. We thank police and district security for their swift response to this incident. The safety and security of our students is always our highest priority.
