DENVER — The Auraria Campus near downtown Denver was placed on lockdown Thursday night following a stabbing.
CU Denver Alerts first posted about the lockdown on Twitter just before 9 p.m.
The lockdown was lifted about 10:15 p.m. after police searched the campus. However, doors on campus remained locked “given the late hour,” CU Denver Alerts said.
The Denver Police Department said the incident started with a stabbing near Federal Boulevard and Howard Place, which is just south of Federal’s intersection with Colfax.
One person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
CU Denver Alerts said the suspect is believed to have fled through campus.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male who weighs between 250 and 300 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, jean shorts, a black hat and white socks. He also may be carrying a black backpack.
Police have not said whether the suspect was apprehended.
Campus police are assisting DPD.
The Auraria Campus is home to Metropolitan State University of Denver, University of Colorado Denver and Community College of Denver.
