LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) — UPDATE (March 27): After a six-hour standoff, police officers arrested 35-year-old Casey Henni who was wanted for menacing with a deadly weapon, fraud, forgery and escape.
Police received word Henni was located at the Quality Inn in Lakewood, and when multiple agencies attempted to take him into custody, Henni allegedly fired a single shot at police officers with a handgun from his hotel room.
The West Metro Swat team responded, and negotiators made contact with Henni, who then surrendered without incident after the standoff ended.
No officers were injured.
Henni was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on his warrant and new charges. Henni is facing charges, including attempted first-degree murder; possession of a weapon by a previous offender; reckless endangerment; first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft; and failure to leave premises with a weapon.
ORIGINAL: Lakewood police and other departments are on scene around 6th Avenue and Simms Street attempting to detain an armed wanted person.
A Quality Inn has been evacuated and authorities are asking everyone to stay out of the area.
Around 9 p.m., West Metro SWAT and Jefferson County SWAT were reported on scene.
