AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — A man was killed in a crash Sunday morning when the gray 2003 Ford Expedition he was in rolled over onto an Interstate 70 embankment, according to the Aurora Police Department (APD).
The SUV did not properly adjust for the curve on the eastbound on-ramp from I-70 onto Pena Boulevard, APD says. The vehicle exited the roadway on the flyover rolling down an embankment ejecting five of the six passengers.
The Expedition landed south of I-70 near a drainage canal. All six passengers were transported to area hospitals. A 56-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
APD investigators believe alcohol and drugs contributed to the fatal crash. Officials say appropriate charges will be filed against the driver after they finish the investigation.
