BROOMFIELD, Colo. (KDVR) — Three North Metro firefighters are recovering after thick smoke and intense heat sent them to a hospital. They were fighting a brushfire just west of Broomfield’s Anthem Ranch neighborhood in Boulder County open space.
The firefighters are expected to be OK, according to North Metro Fire spokesperson Sara Farris.
No homes were damaged during the fire.
“It really didn’t take too long for firefighters to get it under control and to contain it and extinguish it,” Farris said.
A change in wind pushed flames toward two North Metro engines and damaged the vehicles.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
