PARK COUNTY, Colo. — A teenager has not been seen since Friday after a fire caused significant damage to her home, the Park County Sheriff’s Office said.
Maggie Long, 17 of Bailey, was reported missing Friday after she didn’t show up to a concert at Platte Canyon High School that she helped organize, the Canyon Courier reported.
Long went home to retrieve something before she planned to return to the school for the concert, the sheriff’s office said. Her vehicle was at her home as of Saturday night.
Long’s sister posted about her disappearance on Facebook on Friday night.
The fire broke out about 6 p.m. Friday in the 3700 block of County Road 43 that is being investigated as arson, the sheriff’s office said.
No search parties are being organized, Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener said in a statement.
A sheriff’s office spokesman said the home is where Long long lives. There is significant damage to the home, but the spokesman said it’s not clear if anyone was inside at the time of the fire.
A message posted to the sheriff’s office Facebook page on Sunday apologized for keeping the details of the case under wraps.
The tweet read, “We are sorry we are unable to reveal more information. This is an arson investigation and we don’t believe there is a risk to the public. We continue to ask for prayers for the Long family.”

Platte Canyon School District RE-1 superintendent Brenda Krage said support in a letter to parents that supports resources will be available for students and staff at the school on Monday morning.
