PUEBLO, Colo. (KDVR) — It would appear that at long last, preparations are well underway to celebrate a century and a half of one of Colorado’s longest-running traditions, tickets to which you can snag starting this Friday.

Tuesday morning kicked off with a fitting 150-minute ticket sale aimed at stirring up excitement for the 150th Colorado State Fair, which is currently scheduled for a late summer stretch down in Pueblo starting on Aug. 26 and ending on Sept. 5.

A total of 26,650 tickets, costing purchasers a mere $1.50 each, were sold during the flash sale, but worry not if you missed this oppurtunity. Starting at 10 a.m. this Friday, advanced general admission tickets will be up for grabs for just $8.

“We are excited to celebrate the 150th Colorado State Fair with you this year,” said Scott Stoller, General Manager of the Colorado State Fair. “Join us for 11 days of concerts, livestock competitions, and most importantly, fun!” 

The fair commission also named three acts scheduled to headline the fair-affiliated concert series. The list of confirmed performers include Lady A, Jim Gaffigan and Walker Hayes, all of whom posted to the fair’s social media accounts to partake in the fanfare.

2022 Colorado State Fair details

  • Adult gate admission tickets purchased before Aug. 26 are only $8, tickets purchased after Aug. 26 will be $14. They can be purchased through their main page, by phone at 1-800-514-3849, or by visiting the Colorado State Fair Box office in-person.
  • According to the performance description on the ticket page, “tickets [are] not valid on Tuesday ($2 TUESDAY) or Wednesday (Pay-One-Price $14 all-day gate and carnival rides,) [because] Tuesday and Wednesday discount tickets may [only] be purchased at the gate.”
  • Puchasing a concert ticket before Aug. 26 will include a general admission access to the fair as well.
  • Hours for the 2022 Colorado State Fair have changed: The fairgrounds will be open to the public from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. from Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday through Labor Day.
  • The first fair was held in 1872, before Colorado had even earned its statehood, and was put on by the Southern Colorado Agricultural and Industrial Association.
  • In 1918, it was subsequently relocated to the fairgrounds in Pueblo, where military training was held ahead of deployment across the Atlantic during World War I.
