Aurora Fire Rescue and the Aurora Police Department responded to reports of a two-car crash around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday night.

Details on deadly crash at South Buckley Road and East Kent Drive

Investigators said that the two vehicles involved were a Dodge Journey that had been reported stolen earlier Saturday afternoon, and a Toyota Tacoma.

According to investigators, the allegedly stolen Dodge Journey was being driven by a 15-year-old in the northbound direction on South Buckley Road toward where it intersects with East Kent Drive.

As the Dodge Journey approached the intersection at a high rate of speed, the Toyota Tacoma was turning left onto East Kent Drive from the southbound lanes of South Buckley Road. That’s when the Dodge struck the passenger side of the Tacoma.

Occupants of each vehicle

The 15-year-old driver of the Dodge Journey is now in custody for an outstanding warrant and investigators believe he may have been impaired at the time of the crash.

The identity of the 12-year-old girl has not been released, but FOX31 will bring you that information once the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office has informed her next of kin.

Aurora police told FOX31 that it believes not all involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts and they are investigating why there were so many kids in the vehicle.

The northbound lanes on the stretch of Buckley Road near this intersection were temporarily closed as APD’s Traffic Unit processed the scene.

Now, investigators are asking those who may have witnessed this crash to come forward to talk with investigators. If you have any information that could help investigators, please reach out to the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers by calling 720-913-7867.
