DENVER — At the Transfiguration of our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in Northwest Denver, prayer has been part of every Mass.

But, for the past week, many of those prayers have been sent in the direction of friends and family living in Ukraine.

Sunday’s bilingual services focused heavily on the plight of the Ukrainian people.

The church has been in the process of circulating a petition to submit to Gov. John Hickenlooper’s desk, asking for the state’s help.

Parishioners collected donations to send to citizens of Kiev.

The church is located at 4118 Shoshone St. in Denver.
