AURORA, Colo. — A 52-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison Friday  for a fatal stabbing at an Aurora motel last year.

Jeffrey Alan Banworth was found guilty of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Ryan Siefford last December, said Sue Lindsay of the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Siefford, 32, was stabbed multiple times outside the Pace Setter Motel on E. Colfax Avenue on Dec. 20.

The two men had an argument over stolen cigarettes, according to Banworth’s arrest affidavit.

Banworth lived at the hotel, the affidavit said, and he grabbed a kitchen knife anticipating a fight. Banworth told police he pulled out the knife when Siefford was in his room and Banworth stabbed him at least once.
