DENVER — The Denver Police Department arrested a man on Wednesday for the attempted sexual assault on a student on Auraria Campus weeks ago.
James Holmes, age 54, was being held for investigation of first degree assault and sexual assault, involving a female student on May 9 in the West Classroom building.
Auraria police said the suspect grabbed the woman, pushed her to the floor and tried to rape her around 2 p.m. that afternoon.
Police released a sketch of the man six days before the arrest, hoping students would recognize the man, who was said to be near campus frequently.
Holmes’ formal charges are pending.
