DENVER — Some passengers who were trying fly from Denver to Aspen on United Airlines flight 4916 on Tuesday afternoon took to social media when they were told to get off the plane because of “weight issues.”

Posts on Twitter indicated a flight crew member got on the cabin’s loudspeaker system and informed the passengers of the problem. Tweets said United told them those who paid the “least” for their tickets were the ones who were asked to get off the plane.

One photo taken from the plane shows a few bags sitting on the ground that were removed from the flight.

United  said in a statement that it apologized to customers for the inconvenience. It said hot temperatures were causing the weight restrictions.

Flight 4916 arrived in Aspen after a two-hour delay. United was working on getting the other passengers to Aspen.
