La JUNTA, Colo. — High winds in southeastern Colorado caused damage Thursday night.

La Junta Fire Chief Aaron Eveatt said the high winds brought down trees and power lines in the community in the southeast part of the state.

He sent the photo which was taken at U.S. Highway 50 and Colorado Avenue in La Junta.

The Colorado State Patrol reported late Thursday night that Highway 50 was closed from Manzanola west to Avondale and also at the Wiley junction westbound due to poor visibility from high winds and blowing dust.
