DENVER — More than 350 million people worldwide cope with depression according to reports from The World Health Organization.

The condition can be difficult to battle because it can have several different causes.

New studies show depression affects women differently than men.

Women between the ages of 40 and 59 are twice as likely to develop depression due to genetics or hormonal changes before and after menopause.

Symptoms include a lack of interest in things you usually love, a lack of motivation to do anything, and a loss of appetite.

Men can experience unexplained anger.

Treatment ranges from counseling to medication.
