DENVER — The Public Interest Research Group—CoPirg —is letting holiday shoppers know about ‘risky’ toys which are on sale just about everywhere. These toys can cause problems for children.

“We are releasing our 2014 Trouble in Toyland report with a list of dangerous toys,” said Lisa Ritland. “The report finds that despite improvements from recent product reforms, there are still dangerous toys on store shelves that pose a safety hazard.”

There are 24 toys on the list:

  • 3 pose ingestion hazards
  • 5 pose toxic hazards
  • 16 pose choking hazards

The report also features unsafe toys found online as well. Consumer advocates are urging parents to watch for hazards when shopping for toys on the web.

Monday, at Timbuk Toys in the University Hills Shopping Center, examples of toys to watch out for because of things like choking hazards, dangerously loud noises and toys with high levels of toxic elements were displayed and demonstrated. You can see some of that in Jon Bowman’s video report.
