GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The CDC confirmed a Colorado man, contracted the Pneumonic Plague from his dog. This is the first time a case like this has been seen in the United States.
The case happened last summer in Grand Junction.
A two-year-old pit-bull terrier became sick with fever.
Four days later, its owner also had a fever and a bloody cough.
The plague is treatable with antibiotics but the Mesa County Health Department said it is very unusual for dogs to pass it onto humans.
