Griff’s Hamburgers location in Denver closing in August

DENVER — Griff’s Hamburgers will be closing at the end of August, a source has confirmed with FOX31 Denver.

The franchise at I-25 and Broadway has been popular for its vintage-style building and tasty drive-thru burgers and milkshakes. Customers say it became a staple in Denver and had to make one last trip when they heard the news.

“We got here and the parking lot was full, the line was practically outside the door,” said Betty Evans, a Griff’s customer. “We thought everybody must have the same idea, to come and say goodbye, because we used to bring our kids here.”

The chain, which originated in 1960 in Kansas, has 10 other locations in New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana, but the closing of the Denver restaurant as well as the selling of the Arvada location, reported by the Denver Post, means there will no longer be any Griff’s in Colorado.

The location in Olde Town Arvada at 5770 Olde Wadsworth Boulevard  announced on its door, according to tips received by FOX31 Denver, that Sunday will be its last day of business.

No word from the manager or the company as to the closings in Colorado yet.
