Giving Tuesday: Help those who help others

Salvation Army Red Kettle

DENVER — The Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday is Giving Tuesday, a day designed to help the groups and organizations that help people around the globe.

Set up by the richest of the rich, it is a day when pledges come in online to help groups such as Volunteers of America and The Salvation Army get donations to help folks year round.

“We urge people to pledge right up until midnight Tuesday,” Salvation Army Lt. Col. Dan Starrett said. “Funds which come in now, help our clients throughout the year.”

At Volunteers of America, it is using a new facility on Santa Fe Drive to create a Santa’s Workshop for families to enjoy.

“We know many kids we serve, won’t get a chance to head to see Santa at a mall, but this year we will turn our warehouse into a really neat workshop for kids and their parents,” Jordan Kellerman said.

The funds will also go to make sure families get food, toys and clothing. Donate to any of you favorite charities before midnight so you can say, you helped.
