PARKER, Colo. — Parker Police are looking for two men accused of trying to abduct a young girl.
It happened Monday afternoon in the Clarke Farms subdivision near Motsenbocker Road and Vineland Drive.
The elementary-aged girl was walking on the sidewalk about 3:50 p.m. looking for her dogs.
But instead, she says two men found her and tried grabbing her.
“She said the Hispanic passenger put his arms outside of the window and said, ‘Come here.’ She screamed, stepped back and was able to report to her mother,” Parker Police spokesperson Sherry Corcoran said.
That passenger is a clean-shaven Hispanic man in his 20s, with hair that’s short on the sides and longer on top.
The driver is black, bald with a goatee and a tattoo on his right shoulder.
Police released a sketch of one of the suspects.
The girl says they were in a full-sized, black truck with a lot of rust on the rooftop, and a sticker of a skull in the rear window.
“It’s pretty shocking. It doesn’t seem like this would happen in this neighborhood,” says neighbor Clint Noe.
He said the streets in the neighborhood are safe and it’s hard to believe this could happen.
“You can’t let your kids out and about. Now, you have to watch them to even go to school and stuff. It’s kind of disturbing,” he says.
Police said they are getting the word out so the suspects can’t lure in another child.
“We want to make parents aware. We want to make children aware and make them understand it’s important stay in pairs. And, what she did was right, in this type of situation, to make sure you get away as quickly as possible,” Corcoran said.
She said if someone tries to grab a child, they should scream, run away and tell an adult.
Police are working to get sketches together on the suspects. This is an active investigation. Parker police can be reached at 303-841-9800.
