DENVER — It’s not often you see country super star Garth Brooks without a cowboy hat and boots, but Saturday he was dressed down in a hoodie and ball cap for a good cause.

It’s part of his Teammates For Kids Foundation, which helps kids through sports, education and health in partnership with celebrities and athletes.

Brooks with Avalanche Star Matt Duchene and former star and current GM Joe Sakic watched as 75 kids learned and played floor hockey and soccer with the help of Procamps.

“The kids has a great time out here just being with each other and I really like that Garth came in and said you know, ‘It’s not just about being a teammate, it’s about love,” said Jennifer Norwood, parent.

Garth Brooks said, “With these kids now this age, introduce them to love now because if you don’t you’ll have to deal with them at an older age without it.”

Garth’s message seems to be taking hold.

Kids were thrilled to see him and the Avs players, but left with something bigger.

“We’re learning to be friends and love each other,” said participant, Gavin Norwood.

The Teammates for Kids Foundation was founded by Garth Brooks and Bo Mitchell in 1999.
