DENVER — As you’re planning your Super Bowl watch parties, we want to help you cheer on the Broncos with some delicious food. Today we went to the Cherry Cricket to learn one of their newest appetizers: the mash puppies.
“I think it’s a very simple appetizer to make, and it’s delicious,” said kitchen manager, Marco Gorjoux.
Cherry Cricket’s Mash Puppies
4 cups prepared mashed potatoes
5 oz. grated cheddar cheese
5-6 jalapenos, diced
8 pieces of cooked bacon, diced
All-purpose flour
Eggs, beaten
Seasoned Panko bread crumbs
Ranch dressing, sour cream, gravy for dipping
To the prepared mashed potatoes, add cheese, jalapenos, and bacon. Mix well.
With a melon baller or small ice cream scoop, create small balls of potatoes and dip in flour, followed by egg wash, and finally the panko bread crumbs.
Deep fry or pan fry in oil about two minutes or until you see the cheese start to ooze out slightly. Serve with your choice of dipping sauce.
