DENVER — Friends and family of officer John Adsit have set up a fund to help his family pay for multiple surgeries he has undergone after being hit by a car.

Adsit was among four officers hit by a vehicle while escorting students from East High School in Denver who were protesting the Ferguson, Missouri grand jury decision.

A GoFundMe page has been set up where people can donate money to help with medical bills, family needs and unexpected costs.

His family thanked the community for thoughts and prayers on his behalf. “Please continue to pray as we trust the Lord for a complete recovery,” his family’s statement said.

Adsit has been with the Denver Police Department for nine years.

The other three officers were treated and released Wednesday afternoon.
