EVERGREEN, Colo. — Evergreen Fire and Rescue contained a fire that began early Saturday morning.

The Hideaway Fire began about 1:30 a.m. near Old Squaw Pass Road.

Residents in the Old Squaw Pass, West Meadows and Barrow Lane areas were advised to prepare for evacuation, if necessary.

The fire stretched to four acres in the Golden Watershed area and homeowners were given a Level One evacuation order in Beaver Brook Lodge Estates.

As the fire continued to spread, firefighters from Foothills Fire, Elk Creek Fire and West Metro Fire were recruited to help battle the blaze.

Within four hours, the 45 firefighters and 16 trucks were able to get a perimeter around the entire fire and contain it to 75 percent.

Winds died down, helping to prevent the fire from spreading.

One hour later, the fire was 100 percent contained and firefighters were using water backpacks to dampen hot spots.

The cautionary evacuation order was lifted and crews began to mop up the scene.

The fire is still under investigation. There were no injuries and no homes were damaged.
