Dog with wheelchair needs new home

DENVER (KDVR) — A special needs puppy requires a special needs-friendly family.

A Friend of Jack Rescue, a Colorado rescue dedicated to rehoming unwanted dogs, is looking to link a wheelchair-bound 5-month-old puppy named Caroline with a family who understands her needs.

The boxer mix suffered a traumatic spinal injury that left her paralyzed from the waist down. The resulting bladder control issues that will likely require diapers for the rest of her life, but have no effect on a cheerful demeanor or the Colorado lifestyle.

A Friend of Jack Rescue outfitted her with a new wheelchair that lets her live up to her full breed potential – camping and hiking are as much in her wheelhouse as any other Coloradan.

“She’s gotten really used to it,” said Allie Bradshaw, founder of A Friend of Jack Rescue. “If it does pretty well where she can roll over things and it won’t top over and she goes fast! I mean she’s a boxer mix, so she has a ton of energy, and she flies in this thing.”

A Friend of Jack Rescue says Caroline will do best in a home with a yard and an owner with some experience taking care of dogs with her particular needs.
