Distributor bans Denver artist’s t-shirt design

Artist's t-shirt design banned by distributor

DENVER — A local artist—whose company is called “Have an Opinion Art,” said the Internet t-shirt company, TeeSpring, agreed to print his latest t-shirt talker, but then a day later decided to take the shirt down and stop sales.

“I just wanted to blend a couple of things which had been dogging our society for decades and decades,” said Eddie Egloff. “I weathered the ‘stars and bars’ confederate flag and used the rainbow coalition colors on the battle flag. It was never meant to be racial, rather to let two images merge in an effort to get some understanding of both.”

When we showed the image to folks from all walks of life, we got a number of reactions. See the video above for those responses.

As for Egloff, he says he will still get the t-shirt produced and distributed, but it won’t be through TeeSpring. Egloff has created a number of ‘gay pride’ style tee’s and plans to continue his art work to keep people thinking and talking about topics he thinks are important.

“The job of an artist is to provoke thought. I think this shirt does just that,” said Egloff.
