DENVER — The Denver Children’s Museum has been around for 42 years, but as the saying goes – everything gets better with time.
The museum debuted six new exhibits after a year and a half of construction on a $16.1 million expansion.
“I grew up here and used to come here as a kid so to see it grow and double in size is amazing,” visitor Kevin Vogt said.
While the museum has doubled in size, its objective remains the same.
“When kids and adults are learning together, they are exploring all kinds of principles,” Denver Children Museum’s Sarah Brenkert said. “They are asking questions, they are testing their predictions, they are testing themselves through art, they;re keeping their bodies active which is strong for their mind.”
The new exhibits include a multimedia art studio, a hands-on learning kitchen, a water lab and the most popular, Altitude, a 3 1/2-story climbing structure in the middle of the building.
“There’s a lot of educational aspects to it and they’re like little sponges so the more exposure they get to experiences like this helps them in the long run,” Vogt said about visiting with his daughter.
Whether you are a grownup kid or just a kid, there’s something new to check out at the Denver Children’s Museum.
“To have something like this is just a blessing,” Vogt said. “When the weather gets cruddy outside you can come here with lots of fun stuff to play with.”
For just more than $10 per person, it’s a fun place to take the kiddos to keep their minds sharp over winter break.
