FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Two people were accused of robbing a man with a gun who thought he was on a date, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.
The incident happened just before 7 p.m. Friday at the America’s Best Value Inn (4333 E. Mulberry St.).
The victim and a woman he met on an online dating site were apparently going to his hotel room after a dinner when another man entered the room and threatened the man with a gun, the sheriff’s office said.
The woman on the date, identified as 18-year-old Kira Abbott, sent a text message and opened the door to the hotel room, the sheriff’s office said.
Then 20-year-old Elijah Altergott, who was waiting outside, entered the room and pointed a handgun at the victim. The suspects took the victim’s wallet, the sheriff’s office said.
Evidence of the robbery was discovered at both suspects’ homes while a search warrant was executed, the sheriff’s office said. The suspects were taken into custody on Saturday morning.
They were booked into the Larimer County Jail for alleged aggravated robbery and theft. The identity and age of the victim were not released.
