4-car crash spree leaves 2 dead, including 5-year-old

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) – Aurora Police and Fire Rescue responded to a crash involving four cars and one bike on Friday night.

According to Aurora PD, the crash occurred at the intersection of East 6th Avenue and North Chambers Road when a red Honda CRV was traveling northbound in the 500 block of North Chambers Road and crossed into the center median moving into southbound traffic.

The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Juan Pablo Pasqal-Licea of Aurora.

Pasqal-Licea struck an electric bike at the entrance of a shopping center. Fortunately, the rider of the bike was able to dismount before the crash and left the scene unharmed.

Pasqal-Licea continued to travel northbound and struck another Honda CRV that was traveling eastbound on East 6th Avenue. He also hit two other cars that were stopped at a red light in the southbound lanes of Chamber Road.

A 41-year-old woman who was struck in the CRV was killed and pronounced dead at the scene. The other passengers in the CRV, a 43-year-old man, 5-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy were all transported to the local hospital.

The 5-year-old girl later died from her injuries.

The man remains in critical condition, while the young boy was treated and released from the hospital. The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured.

Pasqal-Licea was also transported to the local hospital for treatment. He was arrested for vehicular homicide and driving while under the influence and is currently in custody at the Aurora Detention Center. Aurora PD confirmed they have not had any history with Pasqal-Licea before.

The intersection was closed for several hours during the investigation but was reopened at 4:30 a.m.
