CREEDE, Colo. — The historic town of Creede is located in Colorado’s Mineral County. At 9,000 feet, its population hovers gently around 300 people.
While the population might be small, there’s a ton of fun to be had in Creede, making it a great stop for our #COroadtrip.
Shopping and dining
Though Creede is known as a quiet mountain town during the winter months, in the summer it’s super busy. Creede’s downtown stretch is full of local businesses and diners. It’s a great place to do some shopping and to grab a bite to eat. For a rundown of Creede’s businesses, visit the town’s local business webpage.
The Creede Repertory Theater
Few mountain towns are as entertaining as Creede, seeing as it’s the home to the Creede Repertory Theater, which USA Today called one of the 10 great places to see lights way off Broadway.
The theater is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer. The theater was founded in 1966. During its summer season, the theater produces seven to 10 plays in rotation. According to its website, it also hosts musical events, concerts and other artistic shows.
