LOS ANGELES — She’s doing Colorado proud. Fifteen-year-old Jeneve Rose Mitchell’s truly homegrown talent shines in the final season of “American Idol.”

Wednesday night, she took the stage after being the only Colorado hopeful to win a golden ticket, opening the door to her road to success.

“I’ve been performing my whole life. … My family knew that’s what I was supposed to do,” Jeneve said.

The judges were shocked to learn that Jeneve’s family lives “off the grid” with no electronics constantly running unless they’re hooked to a generator.

Celebrity judge Keith Urban told FOX31: “They have to fire up the generator to fire up ‘American Idol,’ which is fantastic.”

Jeneve said she’s not used to being around crowds.

“I’ve grown up on the mountain with no people,” she said.

But she is excited to take on Hollywood.

Her fans are excited as well, quickly visiting her new website, and growing Twitter and YouTube pages, where Jeneve’s audition has had more than 1 million views, placing it among the top five most watched in the nation.

“American Idol” airs at 7 p.m. Wednesdays on FOX31 Denver.
