Colorado firefighters gather at Red Rocks to honor those killed on 9/11

Firefighters at Red Rocks

DENVER — Thousands of people gathered at Red Rocks Friday to recognize the sacrifice made by the firefighters when terrorists attacked the World Trade Center 14 years ago.

Joe Storckman a Captain with the Platte Canyon Fire Department made the climb in full gear. “Just imagine the adrenaline rush these guys were going through climbing 110 stories with planes burning above them,” said Storckman, “not knowing what they were going to run into. It gives you a whole new appreciation of what they went through that day.”

Photojournalist Michael Grady shows us the memorial that took place at Red Rocks in his video report above.

Money raised form the climb benefits the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which supports the families of firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty.
