DENVER (KDVR) — The COVID-19 delta variant has caused many parts of the United States to see a rise in cases. That includes Colorado, where the CDC recommends people in nearly two thirds of counties should be wearing masks indoors.
This coincides with a leveling off of vaccination rates. In Colorado about 59% of the state’s population was vaccinated by July 28.
To combat these two factors, some businesses will require employees to be fully vaccinated. Below you will find a list of different companies and basic outlines of their plans. This list will be updated regularly.
- UCHealth: Vaccinations will be required for all employees, medical staff, trainees, volunteers, vendors, medical students and contract staff by Oct. 1. Exemptions will be granted only for valid medical or religious reasons. Anyone who receives an exemption will be required to wear a mask at all times in UCHealth facilities and be tested weekly for COVID-19. Those not in compliance with the vaccine policy will face termination.
- Denver Health: Will require all employees to be vaccinated by Nov. 1. The company said employees can be terminated if they refuse. Exemptions will be given, but Denver Health is still working on what those are and how they will be handled.
- Banner Health: Will require full vaccination for all employees by Nov. 1 as a “condition of employment.” The company says it is carving out limited exemptions, and it is unclear if employees who don’t get vaccinated could be subject to termination.
- Google: Will require everyone working in its offices, once they fully reopen as expected in mid-October, to have a COVID-19 vaccination.

- Facebook: Will require everyone working in its offices, once they fully reopen, to have a COVID-19 vaccination. Exceptions will be made for medical and other reasons.
- University of Colorado: Will require that faculty, staff and students at all campuses receive the COVID-19 vaccine before the start of the fall 2021 semester.
- Colorado State University: Will require that faculty, staff and students at both its Fort Collins and Pueblo campuses get the COVID-19 vaccine for the fall 2021 semester.
- University of Denver: Requires all graduate and undergraduate students “planning to access campus in the fall” to show proof of vaccination or an approved exemptions. Faculty and staff vaccine mandates are still under consideration.
- Metropolitan State University of Denver: Requires students, faculty and staff to have COVID-19 vaccinations before the start of the fall 2021 semester.
- National Jewish Health: Employees, caregivers, staff and affiliates will need to be vaccinated by Sept. 17. Exemptions will be available only to those who have an approved medical or religious reason. If an exemption is granted than masks will be required at all times.
- Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center: Under VHA Directive 1131(5), all healthcare professionals are required to be vaccinated. Exemptions are available for medical or religious purposes.
- Aurora Public Schools: All staff are required to be vaccinated for the 2021-22 school year. Exemptions will be made following state and federal law.
- Imagine! Colorado: All employees are required to be vaccinated by Sept. 1. Those who wish to seek exemptions are asked to go through the Americans with Disability Act interactive process.
- Regis University: All students and employees must be vaccinated before returning to campus for the fall semester. As with other vaccines, the school said it will allow medical and religious exemptions.
- State of Colorado: Colorado employees are not required to get vaccinated, but those who are not vaccinated will be required to show proof of twice-weekly starting testing starting Sept. 20 until they are fully vaccinated.
- Kaiser Permanente: All employees and physicians will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Sept. 30. Medical or religious exemptions will be available through the proper channels.
- United Airlines: United will require all employees show proof of vaccination by either five weeks after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced it has fully approved a COVID-19 vaccine or five weeks after Sept. 20, whichever comes first. The latest deadline would be Oct. 25, but the company is planning for the earlier one.
- Frontier Airlines: Frontier Airlines will require all employees to get COVID-19 vaccinations by Oct. 1. Employees who refuse vaccination or unable to get them must submit to regular COVID-19 tests.
- Children’s Hospital Colorado: Beginning Oct. 1, team members who have not received a complete vaccination series of COVID-19 vaccine will be subject to increased PPE requirements, as well as routine COVID-19 PCR testing in accordance with epidemiological trends in Colorado and/or throughout the country.
- SCL Health: All Colorado associates and providers, medical staff, contractors, vendors, temporary workers, students, and volunteers will need to prove COVID-19 vaccination by Nov. 1.
- Delta Airlines: Employees who are enrolled in the company’s account-based healthcare plan who are not vaccinated will be subject to a $200 monthly surcharge effective Nov. 1. Additionally, starting Sept. 30 the company will only offer COVID pay protection to fully vaccinated individuals with breakthrough cases, subject to local laws.
- United Launch Alliance: All employees will need to have had their first dose by Sept. 30 and their second dose by Oct. 31.
