BROOMFIELD, Colo. — An exchange of gunfire between a bank robbery suspect and an officer, sent the suspect to the hospital on Friday afternoon in Broomfield according to police.
Officers received a report of a robbery in progress at a TCF Bank at 4100 West 144th Avenue at 3:28 p.m.
Police were given a suspect vehicle description of a white full-size pickup truck, according to Broomfield Police Sgt. D.P. Walts.
An officer spotted a truck that matched that description, near Aspen Street and Dillion Road about 1.5 miles west of the bank.
“Witnesses reported that the suspect brought the truck to an abrupt stop, got out, and immediately fired his gun at the officer. The officer returned fire, hitting the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local area hospital due to the injuries he sustained during the shooting. His condition and identity are currently not known. The officer was not injured,” a press release from Broomfield Police said Friday night.
This incident remains under investigation.
