DENVER — The Denver District Attorney filed third-degree assault charges Friday against Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov after a domestic violence incident last month.

Varlamov is accused of assaulting his girlfriend at their home on Oct. 30, said DA spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough.

Denver police did not release much information about the incident.

Varlamov turned himself into police in October and was held overnight. He was released from custody on a $5,000 bond and allowed to travel with the team.

Third-degree assault carries a possible two years in prison and is described as knowingly or recklessly causing bodily injury to another person.

The Avalanche did not comment when Varlamov was arrested.

His next court appearance is Dec. 2.
