GREELEY, Colo. — An autopsy report indicates an off-duty Adams County deputy had alcohol and prescription medication in his system when he was shot by a police officer following a car chase.

The Greeley Tribune reports the Weld County coroner’s autopsy released Monday shows 41-year-old Jesse Jenson had a blood alcohol level of 0.07 — below the state’s limit for a DUI but within the range considered impaired.

The deputy was shot in the forehead by a LaSalle police officer in January. He later died at the hospital.

Authorities say police were chasing two speeding vehicles through the rural area in northern Colorado.

The report shows the antidepressant fluoxetine was found in Jenson’s system.

Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke said in statement he will refer the case to a grand jury.
