GREELEY, Colo. — Jurors in the murder trial of Tom Fallis heard emotional testimony Thursday afternoon as several of Ashley Fallis’ relatives, including her mother, took the stand.

Tom Fallis, a former Weld County sheriff’s jail deputy, is accused of shooting his wife. Her death was originally ruled a suicide, but a FOX31 Denver Problem Solvers investigation found evidence that led to prosecutors reopening the case.

Ashley Fallis’ family members testified that she was happy and not suicidal the night she died in 2012. Instead, Tom Fallis was angry and shouting after a party at the couple’s home, they said, making it clear they believe he killed her.

“I was actually kind of frightened after seeing his behavior,” Ashley’s mother, Jenna Fox, testified.

Fox has been fighting to get her daughter’s case to court for years. She testified she also wants  justice for Ashley Fallis’ three children after discovering a police report that Fox says investigators covered up.

“When I saw the police report where (child’s name protected) said ‘I saw daddy shoot mommy,’ of course I was concerned for their well being,” Fox told jurors.

Tom Fallis’ parents are expected to take the stand Friday. According to one witness, Tom Fallis confessed to his parents that he shot Ashley. It’s also likely two of the couple’s three children will testify Friday.

The trial, which began Wednesday, is expected to last three weeks.
