ARVADA, Colo. — Three people were injured by lightning strikes during severe thunderstorms in the state on Tuesday night.

One person was hospitalized after lightning hit a group of golfers at Indian Tree Golf Club in Arvada about 6 p.m., Aurora Fire said.

The person’s name, age, gender and condition were not released.

Two people were also hospitalized after lightning struck near the El Paso County Fairgrounds in Calhan about 6 p.m., KRDO reported.

A man and a woman leaving a building were struck and a paramedic was quickly on the scene. A third person suffered minor injuries.

Rides at the fair were shut down and the fairgrounds were evacuated.

A powerful line of storms moved into metro Denver from the foothills early Tuesday night.
