DENVER — An Arapahoe County prosecutor will start a second career in the military.

Deputy District Attorney Monique Washington was sworn in Tuesday night as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.

She’s the first woman in that office to be on active duty in the military.

She’ll serve as a lawyer in the Army, something she’s always dreamed of doing.

Washington was one of about six prosecutors in the DA’s office who was active in military service.

The District Attorney’s Office  guarantees their job will be there when they return from service.

“I have always wanted to serve in the military now had a number of different things happen and I had the chance to do so now,” Washington said.
