ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — It is a story we first brought you Thursday night, 75 dogs rescued from an Adams County home unlicensed to care for that many animals.
Some of those animals ended up at the animal shelter in Adams County, where Saturday the adoption process to find the animals began.
Terry Black is one of the volunteers trying to get the animals adopted.
“They really need someone who is going to love them,” Black said.
Black said the animals (that are mostly Irish Setters) are not in bad shape and were not abused by the man who had been sheltering the dogs.
“He’a not a bad person, he just got over his head and the dogs got out of control,” Black said.
Jim Siedlecki with Adams County is crediting KDVR’s Problem Solvers with helping so many dogs get adopted Saturday. At least a dozen now have new homes.
“Without your support we wouldn’t have been able to get this story out and these dogs wouldn’t have found new homes,” Siedlecki said.
One of those people who adopted an animal was Jeff Sandri.
“Why pay for a dog when you can adopt one and save a life?” Sandri said.
The remaining animals were expected to be available for adoption over the course of the next week and a half.
