DENVER — Another round of burglaries have struck along East Hampden overnight Thursday, just one day after similar break-ins on the street.
Three restaurants were targeted in a series of break-ins around 4 a.m. Thursday at 6300 East Hampden Avenue, near I-25 and just across the street from where three other restaurants were hit on Sunday night.
There was another string of three break-ins Thursday morning reported on scanners less than an hour later and less than one mile east of that spot, also on Hampden Avenue.
This comes after three businesses were broken into Wednesday morning near Hampden and Fairfax.
A Noodles and Company, an Omaha Steaks and a Wahoo’s Fish Tacos store were all broken into at 6300 East Hampden Avenue.
Marcus Goodrich, the manager at Wahoo’s Fish Tacos, told FOX31 Denver that they don’t leave cash in the registers overnight, so the thief may have only gotten away with spare change.
That foresight was echoed just under a mile down the street at Kim’s Wig Botik, according to partner Chris Blankenship, where they also only left quarters and dimes in the register overnight. Kim’s Wig Botik, along with Miyabi Jr. Express and At the Beach at 7400 East Hampden Avenue, was targeted in the break-ins.
“Evidently we have a guy that came in and decided to do some smashing of front doors to get what he could real quick,” Blankenship said. “Fortunately, he didn’t have much luck with us. It’s real unfortunate, but we’re glad no one was hurt and nothing of great value was taken, from our shop at least.”
All together, this makes 15 or 17 smash and grabs in the area, all possibly done by the same suspect or suspects.
Surveillance video from a Starbucks hit on Wednesday morning shows a man wearing a hoodie and a red mask, wearing red gloves rifling through the register.
